Sean Dyche Is Desperate For Some Home Wins But Reckons Turf Moor Is Not His Happy Place

Burnley’s nondescript run of results at Turf Moor has got Sean Dyche crying out for the return of fans.

You have to go as far back as June 25th to the last time The Clarets secured a victory at their home ground, a streak which now stands at nearly six months! Not the sort of record the hard-faced taskmaster would have been willing to chalk up, but there you have it.

Well, the Kettering-born native has made it succinctly clear he isn’t pleased. And while he’s laid the blame on the absence of their faithfuls, he has urged his wards to raise their game, and fast.

“Whether there are fans in or not, we have to win games”, the 49-year-old said.

“Historically, home form is helpful at any level, not just in the Premier League. Most teams have a more productive record at home. Fans probably help but it’s not relevant — I concentrate on the performances.

“We have to build a tempo and put in
performances. We can’t just wait for it to happen. Certainly by the halfway point, we’ll know what effect the lack of fans is having. Hopefully, if the vaccine can be rolled out, in the New Year maybe we’ll get some back in.”

Even the wordplay of the host of reality TV show ‘I’m a Celeb‘, Jordan North who also happen to be a die-hard Burnley fan could do little to change the mood and stance of the tactician.

Jordan meant to use the phrase ‘Happy place Turf Moor’ to lift the mood of the Burnley manager when they had met recently. But Dyche was not having any of it.

“He seems like a really top lad. If this is his special place, then fair play to
him. I’ve a couple of my own — which are not Turf Moor.”

Sigh. How I feel for this guy now. I really wish Chris Wood and Co. get their scoring boots on, and come to the party when Crystal Palace come to town tonight.
