Wichita State Coach Gregg Marshall Expected To Part Ways With Team After Abuse Allegations

Wichita State’s Gregg Marshall had success as the head basketball coach. However, he has been outed by multiple players as an abusive personality over the past few months. It now looks like Marshall will have to turn in his resignation.

Gregg Marshall has been under fire after former player Shaquille Morris claimed multiple instances of physical abuse. Morris alleges that Gregg Marshall struck him twice during a practice on Oct. 22 2015. Morris also claims he saw Marshall choke former assistant coach Kyle Lindsted during a practice in 2016-17 season.

Gregg Marshall denied these claims in a statement to The Wichita Eagle.

“In response to the allegations put forward in the media, I simply state unequivocally that I have never physically struck a player or colleague,” Marshall wrote. “Allegations claiming otherwise are false.”

Marshall continued to back up his character in further comments.

“It has therefore been particularly difficult for me and my family to read recent media reports that include inaccuracies about my coaching style and the basketball culture we have created at Wichita State,” Marshall said. “But I am enormously grateful for the outpouring of support we have received from community leaders, alumni and former players.”

The Wichita Eagle also says that five anonymous players backed up Shaquille Morris’ claims that he was hit by Marshall.

Whatever evidence was found by Wichita State University appears to be enough for them to move on from Gregg Marshall. Good riddance.
