Tom Wilson Reportedly Reached Out To Artemi Panarin

Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson was the talk of the NHL community this week after he went on a whole rampage, and took out Rangers star Artemi Panarin following a net-front scrum. The NHL then made the controversial decision not to suspend Wilson, and the next Rangers-Capitals game was complete mayhem.

While Tom Wilson furthered his case for most hated man in recent NHL history, one analyst is trying to ease the stigma surrounding the dirty player.

“Despite what some think of Tom Wilson, he did want to make sure that Panarin was okay cause that did not go the way that Wilson was hoping,” TSN’s Darren Dreger said. “Evidence that the villain of the week Tom Wilson does in fact have a heart.”

Despite Dreger’s report, I think most NHL fans already have their minds made up about Tom Wilson. Either you hate him, or you’re a Washington Capitals fan.

With the NHL slapping Wilson with just a $5,000 fine, I’m sure we’ll see more dirty play from him in the future. I wonder if the media will still come to his defense down the road.
