When Jordan Spieth was dominating the golf world at a very young age expectations were through the roof. We all thought we were watching the next Tiger Woods. Turns out that wasn’t the case. Spieth lost his game somewhere along the way, and he’s yet to pick up the pieces.
While the past few years have been frustrating for Jordan Spieth, Saturday was a different story. He looked like the Spieth of old. With a flurry of birdies, Spieth shot up the leaderboard. After posting a -7 on the day, Spieth now sits alone at the top of the leaderboard at the Phoenix open with only one round remaining.

Golf fans were losing their minds on social media throughout Spieth’s performance.

Sprayed drives, stuffed irons, wild recoveries, holed pitches, drained putts — oh, how I’ve missed The Spieth Experience.

So fun to see Spieth dialed in here, it’s been awhile

Jordan Spieth gets into a share of the lead, but hits one into the “native area” on a par-5, but hits his approach from 208 to 5 feet, but misses the eagle putt, but makes birdie and takes sole possession of the lead. Don’t know about him, but I’m exhausted just writing about it.

Jordan Spieth’s prolonged slump mixed with a relentless attitude to get back to the top of the PGA has made him a fan favorite. He’s also just so damn fun to watch when he’s on his game. Today was a reminder of that.
Spieth last won a PGA Tour event in 2017. He has missed four cuts in his previous seven starts, and hasn’t really been close to winning a tournament in a long time. There was no reason to believe Spieth would be a contender this week. But that’s why sports are great, right? Sometimes we just have to marvel at an event so unexpected that people are drawn to it.
Jordan Spieth winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open would be so incredible. The Game needs it. We need it. Get it done, Jordan.
