Simone Biles Shares Message With Her Fans After Dropping Out Of Olympics

Simone Biles has been all over headlines at the Tokyo Olympics, and not in the way that she’s accustomed to.

Instead of dominating gymnastics competitions, Biles was clearly off during the qualifier, and decided to withdraw from the games later in the week. She cited mental health as a reason why she was unfit to compete, and thought it best to focus on her well-being.

After her decision, Simone Biles received an outpouring of support (along with some criticism) from fans and fellow athletes.

She shared a message with everyone who has been sending kind messages on social media.

“The outpouring love & support I’ve received has made me realize I’m more than my accomplishments and gymnastics which I never truly believed before,” Simone Biles wrote on Twitter Wednesday night.

Simone Biles admitted that she felt all the pressure at the Tokyo Olympics. And it hit her like never before.

“I just don’t trust myself as much as I used to,” she said, per Sports Illustrated. “I don’t know if it’s age, but I’m a little bit more nervous when I do gymnastics. I feel like I’m also not having as much fun, and I know that…this Olympic Games I wanted to do it for myself, and I was still doing it for other people, so that just hurts my heart badly, that doing what I love has been taken away.”

We’re all hoping to see Simone Biles back in competition soon. But the main thing is that she remains happy, and finds the joy in gymnastics that she once had.
