Patrick Ewing Has Telling Comments On Georgetown Future Amid Brutal Season

Things haven’t gone according to plan for Patrick Ewing in his fifth season as the head basketball coach at Georgetown.

As it stands, the Hoyas sit at a dismal 6-23, and will undoubtedly miss the NCAA Tournament unless they somehow make a miracle run to win the Big East Conference Tournament.

With the team on a downward spiral, many have been questioning the future of Patrick Ewing at Georgetown. But on Friday, the NBA legend made it clear that he intends to stick around at his alma mater.

“Any announcement about my future will come from me or Georgetown University,” Ewing wrote on Twitter. “First and foremost, I am not a quitter. My plan is to be back next year coaching at my alma mater and bringing this program back to prominence.”

Last season, Patrick Ewing led Georgetown to the first NCAA Tournament bid of his tenure thanks to a miraculous run in the Big East Tournament. But it appears that the momentum has run out quick.

Being as Georgetown has a rich basketball tradition, it’s hard to imagine the fans and boosters will be too patient with their current stretch of down years.

I’d be surprised if Patrick Ewing remains on the sidelines for too much longer.
