Odd Baserunning Mistake Ruins Dodgers Star’s Home Run

Talk about a baserunning blunder. With Justin Turner on first base, Dodgers star Cody Bellinger drove a ball deep to the opposite field. Rockies left fielder Raimel Tapia leaped to try and make the catch at the wall, but wasn’t able to snag it. The ball just went over the fence for a two-run home run. Turner thought Tapia caught the ball, and ran back to first base to make sure he didn’t get doubled-up. While doing so, Turner passed Bellinger on the base paths.

Ooops.

Watch below:

Bellinger was called out for passing Turner on the base paths. He was credited with a single instead of a homerun.

Definitely a bizarre rule.

If it goes over the fence, the baserunning shouldn’t be live, but that’s baseball for you.
