NFL Coach Hints At Possibility Of Bears Trading Justin Fields

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had a rocky rookie season in the NFL.

He was originally the backup QB to Andy Dalton. And after being named the starter midway through the season, Fields suffered from injuries, growing pains, and an inept offensive structure around him.

Despite the tough first season, Justin Fields showed enough flashes to have Bears fans confident that he can still carve out a successful NFL career if he’s given the right situation around him. However, one NFL coach told The Athletic that he views the Bears GM job as a good opportunity because of the possibility of trading Fields.

Per the article:

“From a roster construction standpoint, Chicago is a very desirable location if you ask me, including the fact that you could possibly trade (Justin) Fields,” said a coach who analyzed the Bears’ roster but did not vote in this poll.

Justin Fields finished his rookie season with 10 interceptions and just seven touchdowns. But it seems to be the general consensus that the Bears will look to bring in a coach who’s offensive regime could bring out the best in the young QB.

The Bears still have not made a general manager or head coach hire, and they’re said to be remaining patient before narrowing down the large list of candidates they brought in for interviews.

From pretty much any fans’ perspective, Justin Fields will be the quarterback of the Chicago Bears next season. And I don’t think there is any reason to think otherwise.

One year just isn’t enough time to judge a kid. Especially when he was operating in Matt Nagy’s offense.
