Mo Bamba Thinks That 17-Year-Olds Should Be Allowed To Vote

Orlando Magic star big man Mo Bamba says he’s down with the new California proposition pushing for 17-year-olds to be allowed to vote. The proposition is ironically called prop. 18.  If passed, it would allow 17-year-olds who will be 18 at the time of the next general election to vote in primary elections and special elections.

There are 18 states where prop. 18 is already in place and it is now on the ballot in California. TMZ Sports recently asked Mo Bamba what he thought about the proposition.

22-year-old Mo Bamba told them he’d like to see more states adopt the policy, but warned, “One thing I think they [17-year-olds] need to do is be informed and do their research on who to vote for.”

Good point. Everyone should make sure that they are informed before they go and cast their vote at the polls. This is a very unique election we are approaching and I wonder what impact prop. 18 would have if it were in place in all states. Mo Bamba also raved about LeBron‘s “More Than a Vote” initiative, saying he thinks “we’ll see a very big turnout from the NBA” in the 2020 election.

If you don’t know about LeBron’s “More Than a Vote” organization, you should definitely check it out. Essentially it is aimed at inspiring African-Americans to register and to cast a ballot in the upcoming election in November. But, as the name suggests, it is much more than a vote. LeBron and several other celebrities including Trae Young, Skylar Diggins-Smith, and Jalen Rose will go well beyond traditional celebrity “get-out-the-vote” efforts.

Voting is the least you can do. Stop complaining. Stop tweeting. Go register and get out there and vote.
