Matt Patricia Defends Himself By Saying He Inherited Bad Situation, Clearly Doesn’t Know Recent Lions History

Matt Patricia has been an absolute laughing stock as the head football coach for the Detroit Lions. After Sunday’s awful loss to the Saints (where they somehow played behind the 8-ball for the majority of the time after jumping out to a 14-0 lead) Patricia was at it again with his bullshit.

He was asked why people should believe he’s the right guy to turn the Lions around, and here was his answer.

“When I came to Detroit there was a lot of work to do, and that’s what we’re trying to do,” Patricia says. Really, let’s take a look at the Lions under previous coach Jim Caldwell. They went 11-5, 7-9, 9-7, and 9-7 respectively. In Patricia’s first three years he’s managed to take the organization down a different path, a losing path.

Matt Patricia is now 10-25 as the coach of the Lions. And when you consider the fact that he was brought to Detroit to get the team over the hump, but has instead turned them into a complete loser, the real picture takes shape. He has been a disaster.

Patricia also has this way about him when he talks to the media that really bothers me. It’s almost like he thinks he can pull off the Belichick or Popovich where he’s always coming on strong and calling the media out. The “this is the last place I want to be” attitude, and it doesn’t work for Patricia. Why not? Because he doesn’t win. You can’t just act like an asshole while carrying a 10-25 record, that’s not how it works.

Although, I will say, his pressers have turned in some pretty funny moments. Here’s Patricia calling out a reporter for his poor posture in 2018.
