Luke Voit Angered About Playing Time As Anthony Rizzo Returns To Yankees

New York Yankees now have a first baseman problem on their hands with Luke Voit and Anthony Rizzo.

On Tuesday, Voit was asked about the potential for his playing time to diminish with the return of Rizzo to the lineup. He didn’t hold back.

“I was top 10 in the MVP [voting] last year and I’ve been a great player for this organization for the last three years. I’m not going down,” Luke Voit said. “I want to play. Obviously I know it’s going to be tougher with Rizzo, but I deserve to play just as much as he does.”

Sure enough, Anthony Rizzo has returned to the lineup on Wednesday, replacing Luke Voit at first base.

Despite the tricky situation currently playing out between Luke Voit and Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton has a solution.

He can play the outfield, Rizzo can play first, and Voit can be the team’s designated hitter for the stretch run.

Stanton might not be the best option in the outfield. But if he can prove not to be a complete liability, the Yankees lineup would be even more deadly.

Hopefully Aaron Boone can figure out a way to best utilize Anthony Rizzo and Luke Voit.
