Soccer superstar Lionel Messi shocked the sports world when it was announced that he was leaving Barcelona for PSG.

According to reports, Barcelona did not have the money for meet Messi’s rightfully high monetary demands, and PSG was waiting with open arms and an open wallet.

Despite the historic tenure with Barca coming to an end, Messi has maintained that he did not want to leave the the club, and a reported WhatsApp message he sent to current and former Barcelona teammates would back up that story.

During an emotional press conference to say farewell to the Barcelona faithful, Lionel Messi admitted that leaving the club was tough for him.

“I’m really sad because I didn’t want to leave this club. I love Barcelona and I wanted to stay, my contract was ready. I did everything in my possibility to stay.”

Lionel Messi will now join Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on a PSG squad that will look to dominate European soccer for many years to come.
