Justin Fields Opens Up On How Things Are Going With The Unproven Bears Coaching Staff

Chicago Bears fans are probably still celebrating the unexpected turn of events that resulted in their team drafting quarterback Justin Fields in the first round of the NFL Draft.

While Justin Fields will bring excitement to a Bears quarterback room that has lacked much of anything for many, many years, there is still some people who remain skeptical that it’ll all work out for the young Bears QB. After all, we all just witnessed Matt Nagy completely botch the whole Mitchell Trubisky experience.

Now, Mitch is gone. And Matt Nagy will have a second chance with a quarterback who he actually helped pick. It has only been 11 days since Justin Fields was drafted, but he’s already getting familiar with Nagy and the Bears offense.

“We’ve had multiple conversations on how he sees me fitting into this offense and fitting into his scheme,” Fields said. “We’re definitely excited for the future. My job, of course, is to come in here, work hard every day, and become the best player and the best quarterback I can be.”

Fields would go on to say that there are still a couple of things in his game that he needs to iron out before he can be the best version of himself in the NFL.

“I think there were a few things at Ohio State that we might not have done that multiple teams in the NFL are doing. I’m just kind of getting used to those things and I know the terminology is going to be different here when it comes to different concepts and different protections. I think once I get into the rhythm of learning that stuff and once I’m here for a period of time, I’ll pretty much have everything down.”

With the rookie minicamps underway, Matt Nagy will now have an opportunity to work first-hand with his new dynamic quarterback.

Nagy’s offense has been abysmal during his tenure in Chicago. But he has been thrown a lifeline with Justin Fields. Now, we’ll have to wait and see if he grabs it.
