Jimmy Johnson And Jerry Jones Have Fully Buried The Hatchet

It didn’t end well in Dallas for Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones.

But as Johnson gets ready to enter the NFL Hall of Fame this week, Jones has opened up, admitting that he handled the end of the decorate coach’s tenure in Dallas all wrong.

“He’s a great coach and I’m proud to have him as a friend, and proud to have the times that we — we just had a great experience,” Jones said during a press conference at the opening of training camp via Yahoo. “I’ve never been able to know why I f–ked it up.”

During an appearance on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd, Jimmy Johnson took some of the blame for the way things went down with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. He also admitted that he was ready to move on at the time.

“Jerry shouldn’t take the entire blame. I was ready to move on. Could we have done something to make it work? Maybe. It really wasn’t all his fault.”

During the Fox pregame show prior to the Hall of Fame game on Thursday night, Jerry Jones sat down with Jimmy Johnson and revealed that the coach was going to be inducted into the Cowboys “Ring of Honor”.

Jerry Jones announced that Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor.

Shortly after he bought the Cowboys in 1989, Jerry Jones hired Jimmy Johnson to be his head coach.

The two had a highly successful partnership, winning back-to-back Super Bowls, and adding a third trophy before Johnson was pushed out the door in 1994.

While there may have been some bad blood between Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson at one point, it appears that ship has officially sailed.
