Jeff Petry Explains How A Finger Injury Led To The Infamous Bloodshot Eyes Pic

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry is the latest proof that hockey players are simply just built different.

During the Stanley Cup players, Jeff Petry was trending when he was shown on camera with extremely bloodshot eyes following an “upper body injury” from the previous series.

On Friday, Jeff Petry admitted that his trending eyes were a product of a nasty pinky injury.

Petry revealed that the bloodshot eyes occurred as trainers were popping his pinky back into place in order to put a cast on.

“I passed out and basically popped all the blood vessels in my eyes,” Petry said, per Sportsnet‘s Eric Engels.

Jeff Petry said the pinky break happened when it got caught in a photographers hole in the glass. Petry originally thought it was dislocated, but it ended up being a break. He opted against surgery, which would have sidelined the Habs’ top defenseman for 4-6 weeks.

Just insane insight here from Jeff Petry. I can’t even imagine being in so much pain that you actually pop both blood vessels in your eyes. The dude did everything in his power to bring a Stanley Cup to Montreal.

You gotta respect it.
