Dak Prescott probably should have been locked up a long time ago. Now, we’re in that weird stage where the Dallas Cowboys have already franchise tagged their quarterback last offseason when they couldn’t reach a deal. They still can’t reach a deal, and now Jerry Jones might have to place the tag on Prescott once again.
While we have been quick to blame to Cowboys’ front office for their inability to lock up Prescott (who has clearly shown the ability to be a franchise QB), Dak might also have some blame in the situation. According to NFL Network reporter Jane Slater, Dak Prescott wants to be paid Patrick Mahomes money.
Franchise tag deadline is March 9 💰

Now, I get it. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Dak Prescott views himself as Patrick Mahomes. The market will dictate where quarterbacks should be paid. Dak Prescott is hitting the market at the perfect time, and he he should be paid a massive long-term contract. With that being said, Prescott needs to understand the situation. He’s coming off a serious season-ending leg injury. You’re not going to receive Mahomes money after that.
Also, the Dallas Cowboys are not a very good team. They have holes all over the field. I’m sure Jerry and Stephen Jones would love to lock up their quarterback, but they also want to win a Super Bowl. If Dak Prescott will not settle for anything less than $400 Million, then it will be nearly impossible for the Cowboys to build an elite roster under a salary cap.
Dak Prescott has the most illustrious position in all of sports. He’s the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. With that comes more endorsement money than you will get in any other city. I’m not saying the man shouldn’t try to get his bag, but it may be worth considering that there’s blame on both sides of the table if you want to dissect why Dak Prescott remains unsigned.
