It appears that the Freddie Freeman era in Atlanta is over.
On Monday, it was announced that the Braves were acquiring first baseman Matt Olson from the A’s — seemingly to replace Freeman.
Oakland will receive OF Cristian Pache, C Shea Langeliers, SP Ryan Cusick and SP Joey Estes, sources tell ESPN. Massive haul for Matt Olson, the Braves’ new first baseman.

Shortly after the move signaling the end of Freddie Freeman’s tenure in Atlanta was reported, the longtime leader of the Braves was trending all over the web.
Freddie Freeman should’ve been a Brave for life. I know it sucks to lose a player who should’ve spent his whole career with your favorite team, but Freeman went out by winning an MVP and followed that up with a World Series and hit a bomb in the clincher. That’s pretty baller.

The Braves fought harder to keep the chop than they did for Freddie Freeman

Freddie Freeman wearing anything other than a Braves jersey is a failure on both sides

I love Freddie Freeman and wish he would have stayed. That said, his legacy with the Braves will live on forever. He was the foundation through the rebuilding effort, led the resurgence and went out with a HR in his last AB in the clinching game of the World Series. #ForTheA

Freddie Freeman’s last at-bat with the Braves was a World Series home run.

I cannot believe that we are about to live in a world where Freddie Freeman isnt an Atlanta Brave.

The end of an era for Freddie Freeman
It’s hard to imagine the MLB without Freeman holding down the post at first base for the Atlanta Braves. But perhaps going out with a World Series Trophy is just the perfect send-off for a franchise legend.
During his 12 seasons in Atlanta, Freeman slashed .295/.384/.509 to go along with 271 home runs and 941 RBIs.
Matt Olson is a fine get for Atlanta. But he’s not Freddie Freeman, and whoever signs the left-handed slugger next will be getting one of the best first baseman we’ve seen this generation.
