MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred Trashed After Speaking With Media On Lockout

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred doesn’t have a very good public perception.

Between his hostile relationship with players, stubbornness with unwanted rule changes, and inability to reach contract agreements, he’s been an utter failure since taking over for Bud Selig in 2015.

Sure enough, the MLB is currently in a prolonged lockout after Manfred and the owners failed to reach a new collective bargaining agreement with the players. With the scheduled start to Spring Training around the corner, Rob Manfred spoke with the media on Thursday about the current state of negotiations.

Spoiler: it’s still bad.

With Rob Manfred’s comments on Spring Training coming off as tone deaf, being as pitchers and catchers should be reporting next week, fans took to social media to call for the commissioner’s head.

Rob Manfred would also admit that the MLB season not starting on time would be a colossal failure. But he’s already working the room to try to spin the narrative against the players. The only problem: fans aren’t buying it.

For whatever reason, the MLB has so many more issues reaching agreements with their players than any other sport, and the buck has to stop with Manfred.

For a game already struggling with waning popularity, Rob Manfred has done the game of baseball no favors since his arrival. And fans are now rightfully convinced that he just simply is not the man for the job.
