Evander Holyfield Follows Up Mike Tyson’s Impressive Old Guy Training Video With One Of His Own

PREVIOUSLY: Is A Mike Tyson Comeback Fight A Possibility After His Training Video Went Viral?

Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson aren’t quite Batman and the Joker but it does seem as if they’re damned to do this thing forever. We’re now almost 23 years after the infamous moment where Tyson bit off a piece of Holyfield’s ear amist a losing fight. And while Tyson has cleaned himself up, gained and then lost untold dozens of pounds, Holyfield looks a whole lot of the same despite the fact that he’s 57 years old. Maybe more of a slight resemblance to a badass grandpa version of himself like Clint Eastwood or Liam Neeson or, more cynically, a well-aged raisin:

It does seem like Holyfield’s video is a tad bit more edited. His punches also seem to have some less snap than the 53-year-old Tyson’s last video:

It feels like a weird world to prognosticate the likelihood of a fight between two men who would normally be on the cusp of collecting social security but this now seems even more like a “where there’s smoke there’s fire” situation. There’s money to be made off of a fight, particularly in a world where a guy like Logan Paul can generate over 1 million buys. And where there’s money, particularly in an economy decimated by the loss of live sports and events, people will be willing to put on a show.

Despite all that, you’ve got to set expectations accordingly. Tyson did lose three out of his last four fights, though he claims he was still suffering from addiction and mental health issues that greatly limited him. Holyfield won two out of his last three with one no-contest, albeit against guys who seem mostly in the tomato can demographic, but he hasn’t fought since 2011. Training videos are one thing, a full fight is something else.

But I’m a sucker for legends of sports and a sucker for Tyson so hey, let’s make the Battle of the Could-Be Granddads happen!
