Dwayne Haskins Releases Statement After Being Cut By WFT

After a tumultuous tenure in Washington, quarterback Dwayne Haskins has been released.

The 23-year-old Haskins could never figure it out on or off the field, and the team finally saw it necessary that the two parties go their separate ways. Haskins’ latest lapse in judgement was went he was spotted mask-less at a strip club last week.

Despite that incident, Haskins got the start against the Carolina Panthers this week, and frankly looked like a broken quarterback. He was benched in the fourth quarter, and fittingly, that’s the last we’ll see of Dwayne Haskins in a Washington uniform.

Haskins took to Twitter to send a statement on his release.

Sideaction’s Latest:

“My time with Washington has unfortunately come to an end. I thank the team & fans for the opportunity to play for the team I grew up rooting for. I take full responsibility for not meeting the standards of a NFL QB & will become a better man & player because of this experience,” Haskins wrote.

Dwayne Haskins is still very young, and I’d bet that he’ll land somewhere in a backup role. He will have another chance to prove himself, and he’s going to have to make drastic changes to his lifestyle if he wants to be taken seriously in the NFL.

As for Washington, they’ll have some tough choices to make going forward. Alex Smith is a great story, but he’s not your long-term guy. They also won’t have a high enough draft pick to pick a top QB in the next draft. Look for Washington to search the free agent market for their next quarterback.

It was time for Dwayne Haskins and The Washington Football Team to part ways, but there are still many questions left unanswered.
