Dustin Johnson And Kevin Na Had A Heated Exchange During Their Match Play Competition

The PGA is usually not a very contentious sports, but every once in a while some bad blood spills out onto the course. Such was the case when Kevin Na and Dustin Johnson faced off in the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play event this weekend.

Kevin Na was upset that Johnson picked up his ball, expecting that Na was giving him the putt, before Na had even said something. After the hole, Kevin Na confronted Dustin Johnson, and the whole thing was caught on the hot mic.

“Just, just wait, right. I know it’s this,” Na said, holding his hands a few inches apart. “But you still have to wait until I say it’s all right.”

While it seems like Kevin Na was being overly nit-picky about the PGA rules, I guess that’s how you have to be to ensure that you don’t get taken advantage of out there.

Na ended up coming back to beat Dustin Johnson, draining birdie putts on both hole 17 and hole 18. After the match, he insisted that there was no bad blood between him and DJ.

“We took it well,” Golfweek quoted Na as saying. “Dustin is like, ‘Hey, look it’s your call.’ I said, no, it’s a half. That’s a par. It’s a par, yeah.”

So while Kevin Na wanted to make a big stink, he wasn’t willing to actually dock Dustin Johnson for his gaffe. Maybe the whole confrontation was in Dustin’s head for the rest of the match, though.
