Dick Vitale Posts Encouraging News Amid Cancer Treatment

Legendary college basketball broadcaster Dick Vitale announced yesterday that today was set to be a big day for his cancer recovery.

He announced that while he wished he was calling all the action for March Madness, his “Madness” was set to be a revealing PET SCAN on Tuesday morning.

“My MARCH MADNESS starts TUES.8 AM as I report for bloodwork & a PET SCAN that will give my Dr. Rick Brown an analysis of my cancer & see if the chemo treatments have been successful,” Vitale said on Twitter. “[Prayers] for good news. Just a way of life for ALL cancer patients!”

On Tuesday, Dick Vitale announced on social media that the Scan came back and showed “NO CANCER”

“OMG ALL THE PRAYERS many of u have sent have been answered as DR Brown who heads my cancer TEAM called & said PET SCAN came back that NO CANCER is showing. I feel like a coach playing for the Final 4 has a PTPer hit a shot at buzzer. My MARCH MADNESS starts with a W baby !”

Dick Vitale has kept his typical optimism throughout his incredibly difficult year. And now, he has some good news to celebrate.

While he’s taken the year off due to his recovery, Vitale has not officially retired from broadcasting, and it would be awesome to hear him calling a game again in the future.

We’ll keep a look out for any more updates on Dick Vitale.
