Derrick Rose Has No Interest in Being Idolized

Former Chicago Bulls MVP Derrick Rose was on the path to  superstardom while playing in Chicago. Unfortunately he had several brutal injuries that ultimately derailed his career. He’s still the youngest to ever win MVP, and his old highlight reel is super impressive.

He was one of a kind, and then he wasn’t.

It was DRose’s birthday over the weekend, and if you could believe it, he’s only 32 years old.

He posted a message to all his followers:

“Please don’t idolize me. I’m not your typical hooper/celeb or whatever you want to call it. Find out who you are, master something and find a way to express whatever you’ve mastered,” Rose said. “It’s all about your perception. Once you do that I SWEAR it’s easier to see this game everyone is playing. Don’t be apart of the magic show. Look away! Spurious love please pls stay away!!!!”

Rose has been plagued by knee and ankle injuries throughout his 12 years in the league, but was enjoying a resurgent season with the Pistons in 2019-20, averaging 18.1 points and 5.6 assists off the bench as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

He became the first player in franchise history to record seven consecutive games of 20 or more points as a reserve.

At this point he still has plenty of fans, not sure if anyone still actually idolizes him though.
