Brett Favre Is At It Again

Green Bay Packers legendary quarterback Brett Favre has really kept himself relevant during his retirement, often sharing his right-wing political views as well as old school takes on the game of football. Most recently, Favre condemned players for wanting to be traded away from a bad situation.

Well, Favre is at it again. This time, he’s speaking out against ‘woke’ athletes bringing politics into the games.

Favre had an interview with Andrew Klavan of The Daily Wire, and wasn’t afraid to talk about how much he hates players speaking out on injustice during the games.

“Yeah, I think both sides, for the most part, want to see it just remain about the sport, not about politics,” Favre said when asked if sports are too political nowadays. “At least that’s my interpretation. I know when I turn on a game, I want to watch the game. I want to watch the players play and teams win and lose and come from behind. I want to watch all the important parts of the game, not what’s going on outside the game. I think the general fan feels the same way.”

Klavan also brought up Favre’s support of former president Donald Trump. Klavan asked the former QB if he thought it was unfair that he was criticized for his political beliefs, but players can kneel for the anthem.

“Absolutely, it’s very lopsided and whatever happened to, you know, your ideas, your thoughts, your beliefs being yours and not wrong?” replied Favre. “That seems a distant past.”

In a pure move of hypocrisy, Favre would then bash players for kneeling for the anthem.

“Something’s got to unite us. And the games or sport in the poast has been some kind of unification. Now, it’s almost like a division,” said Favre. “I can’t tell you how many people, including yourself, have said to me, ‘I don’t watch anymore. It’s not about the game anymore.’ I tend to agree.

“Again, it’s a shame. There’s always been differences and issues within the world, within the country, within our states. But something has to unify us. I felt like the flag and standing patriotically — because blacks and white and hispanics have fought and died for this country. It’s too bad.”

So let’s get this straight, Brett. You think it’s wrong that you’re criticized for being an outspoken Trumper because players who kneel for the anthem don’t receive the same treatment for expressing themselves. But to kneel for the anthem is also wrong, and shouldn’t be going on?
Look, I’m all for a guy speaking his mind. But it really seems like Brett Favre needs to get his thoughts in order before he goes on these rants every other week. It’s getting tired.
