Everyone in the Celtics organization must have woken up this morning and tried crack, because the news coming out of Boston today is completely bonkers.
First, it was announced that team president of basketball ops Danny Ainge has plans to step down. After that, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that Celtics coach Brad Stevens was going to move to the front office for the role, he’ll lead the search for the team’s next head coach.

Why Would The Celtics Give Brad Stevens A Front Office Gig?
The 44-year-old Stevens has never worked in a front office and really has limited experience in the NBA. Now, he’ll be given the keys to the Celtics organization, after failing to get the team over the hump as the head coach.
Fans everywhere reacted to the wild news from the Boston Celtics.
Stevens looking for a good head coach is like Matt Damon's character looking for the rat in the police department in The Departed @adnansvirk https://t.co/GRH4sQWzpb

So Stevens, people who wanted to fire because of his playoff failures, is being promoted to build the team? https://t.co/DXPfeXhqec

The NBA really is just f’ing wild sometimes. And The Celtics are proving that on Wednesday morning.
I mean, I like Brad Stevens…I have since his days at Butler. But to expect the guy to excel at building a team when he has no experience, wasn’t a great coach, and profiles as more of a college type of guy is a big ask.
I’ll be rooting for Brad, but this sure as hell feels like a recipe for disaster.
