Trey Lance MVP Bets Getting More Action Than Every Other NFC QB Combined

The Trey Lance era has officially arrived.

And there’s no stronger signal that this will be a huge year for the Niners signal caller than all the wagers currently being placed on him.  As we all know by now, the Jimmy G era is dead as a doornail, as the Niners have opted to roll with Trey Lance for the future of the franchise.  With the Trey Lance hype train chugging along at record speeds, bettors are certainly drinking the Trey Lance Kool Aid. This month alone, Trey Lance is receiving a majority of MVP bets, and to prove just  how hyped he currently is, he’s received more bets than all the other NFC Quarterbacks combined.

Lance is also getting a ton of action on his rushing yard total props.

Caesars Sportsbook weighed in on all the Trey Lance betting action:

“I’d say this level of action [on Lance] is surprising and it’s not surprising,” said Adam Pullen, Assistant Director of Trading at Caesars Sportsbook. “Our opening number in hindsight was a little too high, but he’s basically a rookie fully taking the reins for the first time. We’ll see if he can put up the type numbers that Rodgers or Brady or Mahomes will. Then we always get a lot of 49ers money from our northern Nevada bettors, and clearly they’re taking Lance. We had big liability on Jimmy [Garoppolo] to win MVP ahead of last season.”

Lance has seen his MVP odds shift as bettors are hammering him.

“That 40/1 price is still attractive to people,” Pullen said. “It’s a much bigger payout than the top-tier guys who are around 10/1. I think that’s primarily the reason why the Lance action hasn’t let up despite his price continuing to drop. All it takes is one nice series in a preseason game or a positive comment from a beat writer, and that drives a lot of the action as well. The littlest of things can really impact the odds a good amount.”

Bettors are always reaching for the bigger payouts, and to think Lance will win MVP isn’t all that far fetched, but a lot has to happen between now and the end of the season. Trey will have plenty of weapons at his disposal,  but much like any Quarterback to runs probably more than he should,  injuries have to be worrisome.

All it takes is one hit on a broken play to instantly put a guy out of MVP contention.
