Report: Rudy Gobert Officially Done Playing Alongside Donovan Mitchell

It appears as thought the band is finally breaking up for the Utah Jazz.

For years now it’s been said that there has been some animosity between the two cornerstone pieces, Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. But to this point, they’ve been able to but their differences aside for the betterment of the team. Unfortunately, they simply have not been able to get over the hump.

After losing to Luke Doncic and the Mavericks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs, it’s been widely reported that the Jazz’s plan will now be to tear down their team. And it’ll likely start with moving Rudy Gobert and/or Donovan Mitchell.

According to a new report, Gobert has no intention of playing with Mitchell ever again.

“Rudy feels that his own numbers are consistent or getting better, while Don is D liability and is falling off in terms of explosiveness,” Sirium XM’s Sean O’Connell reported.

After failing to get Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell to the next level, Jaxx coach Quin Snyder has a choice of his own: lead the Jazz’s rebuild, or try to go to another contender.

Understanding the situation, Snyder indicated that the days with this particular Jazz core is likely over.

“I’m incredibly proud of this team. It was a pleasure coaching this group. I’m proud of the way we competed and put ourselves in position to win the game. It just didn’t turn out the way we wanted,” Snyder said following the loss to the Mavericks.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Jazz decide to do this offseason. But it seems clear that the Rudy Gobert-Donovan Mitchell partnership is now over.

Which will likely be music to each players’ ears.
