Bradley Beal Lays Down Some NSFW Truth To His AAU Basketball Team

Washington Wizards’ guard Bradley Beal does not care about your stats.

Beal coaches an AAU team located in St. Louis and he got fired up in a speech to his team that went viral on Saturday.

In the speech, Coach Beal can be heard telling the team to “f*ck your stats” and “what can you do to impact the basketball game, and win”.

This is just a beautiful speech and whoever is talking negatively about this really needs to give their head a shake. Beal is just keeping it real and being transparent and honest with his team.

Many might look at this and think, wow, he’s being way too hard on a group of young men, but realistically, I wonder if they have ever even coached a game in their life? Let alone played at the highest level and performed like he has under pressure.

It seemed a little excessive at some points, sure, but in reality, he was just speaking from the heart about something he just watched. He knows how well the team can play, but called them out for not being able to close out a game, and making it seem like they only care about the stats they put up.

Having coached youth sports, it’s a tough pill to swallow for many of the youth playing, especially at a higher, club level. Some think they need to be the star on the team to get noticed, but just as Beal put it, it’s about what you can do to make the team better, not if you scored 20+ today.

Beal only managed to appear in 40 games last season for the Washington Wizards, averaging 23.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game.

Hopefully these boys are able to come closer together as a team after their talk and can grow from this experience. But honestly, if we learned anything today, it is maybe that Bradley Beal has a future in coaching at the next level with this sort of evaluation.
