Bettor Faces Tough Cashout Question With a New York Mets National League Pennant Looming as the Last Leg of Massive Parlay

We’ve all been there: starring at our parlay wondering if we should just take the cashout option with the last leg standing in our way of hitting. But this viral bet is like nothing I’ve seen yet.

On Wednesday afternoon, Fanduel Sportsbook revealed that one bettor is a New York Mets National League pennant away from cashing out a parlay he paid $5 to win $7,573.50 on. However, he could just cash out now to win $1,528.80.

He already hit on Scottie Scheffler to win The Masters (+1600), the Boston Celtics to win the Eastern Conference (+440), the Colorado Avalanche to win the Western Conference (+175). The Mets were +500 to win the National League pennant at the time of the bet.

The New York Mets are currently sitting at 82-40 on the season, three games ahead of the Atlanta Braves for first place in the National League East. Obviously, they’d like to hold off the Braves to avoid the three game Wild Card series, but they have all but solidified their spot in the MLB Postseason, nonetheless.

If the playoffs we’re to start today, the Mets would be the #2 seed in the National League behind the MLB-best Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to DraftKings, the Mets are now +250 to win the Nation League, behind the Dodgers at +165. New York is +500 to win the World Series.

With Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom heading their rotation, the Mets would figure to be a tough out for anyone in the postseason, and will surely have a lot of confidence when that time rolls around.

My take? Let the parlay ride.
