Could the Vanderbilt Commodores actually be a sharp play for the college football season?
Despite their embarrassing status of the football program, it was revealed this weekend that one bettor is putting a lot of stake in the team.
When the futures bets for the college season futures were announced, it was noticed that the Vegas oddsmakers set the over/under for Commodores wins this season at just two measly games, and one bettor was quick to take the bait.
Yesterday, b/r betting claimed that one guy put in a $4K bet on Vanderbilt to win more than two football games.
Check out their schedule and see if you can spot three wins.

Vanderbilt had been a mediocre program for most of the past two decades. But in recent years, they’ve really taken a turn for the worse.
After their Texas Bowl appearance in 2018, the Commodores have followed up by going 3-9, 0-9, and 2-10 respectively for the past three seasons. For the past two seasons, it’s been former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Clark Lea who has been serving as head coach to try to turn the program around.
Even after the first two seasons went in a terrible direction for Lea, he feels a new vibe about this year’s Commodores.
“Last year’s first practice, it was alarming. We are way more comfortable with what the expectations are and the manner of which we practice and the mindset toward attacking things and doing hard things together. I feel great about that,” Lea said after a recent practice. “This was still Practice 1. Mistakes are mistakes – I’d expect that. We have a lot of young players that are getting folded in, but we have to be patient with their development.
“The manner in which we move from drill to drill will improve, but on the whole, I thought the effort, the attention to detail, the intentionality was there today. I would expect that. That’s the work we did this summer. That’s the work we did in spring. We’re further along.”
One bettor is certainly hoping Vanderbilt can turn a corner this season, that’s for sure.
