Serena Williams’ 3rd Round Odds at US Open Against Ajla Tomljanovic Have Been Updated

Serena is rolling right into the third round of the US Open on absolute fire.

Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia beat Evgeniya Rodina of Russia in three sets in front of a much smaller crowd than Serena Williams saw during her second round win in the US Open last night. Ajla Tomljanovic is now set to face Serena Williams in the third round. The two players have never faced each other. Even though Serena was an underdog in her round 2 matchup against World No. 2 Annett Kontaveit., after her throwback performance she’s now back as the favorite in Round 3 in her matchup again Tomljanovic.

Serena is currently -170, while Tomljanovic is at +140 Via DraftKings Sportsbook.

After her match, Tomljanovic told reporters that she’s looking forward to playing Williams, especially because she has been a fan of hers since she was a child.

“It’s going to be a huge moment no matter the outcome,” Tomljanovic said. “It’s a little surreal to me that I made it, and played in the same era as her.”

Tomljanovic feels it’s a touch of fate that she finally gets to play Serena.

“I don’t look at the draws, so I wasn’t sure where she was but I did have a moment of, like, before the tournament started when I was in my bed and just thought about playing her here on Arthur Ashe before the draw came out,” said the Aussie No.1.

“I’m glad that it’s now in a third round.

“It’s a little surreal to me that I made it and played in the same era as her, but I was quite sad before this tournament that I’ve never faced her so far. Could have been a chance I’ll never play her before she retires.”

While she desperately hopes to win and reach the second week at Flushing Meadows for the first time, Tomljanovic said it was an honor to play Serena win or lose.

“She’s changed the sport, tennis, but also what she’s done worldwide for women in sports is incredible,” the 29-year-old said.

“She’s paved the way for so many, inspired me to go for my dreams.

“Even her longevity. Like, I’m kind of in the part of my career now where they call you on the older side. She’s made that kind of non-existent. ‘Old’ is not even a word in her vocabulary.

“I don’t think there’s anyone like her, obviously.”

Serena is currently in the zone, and if you watched her 2nd round performance, you’re feeling pretty good about her chances in the 3rd round.

GOATS are gonna GOAT. Serena will play her third US Open match on this Friday, Sept. 2nd, at approximately 7 p.m. ET against Ajla Tomljanovi.
