In the preseason game against the Jaguars, Kenny Pickett completed six of his seven passes thrown for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Mason Rudolph also shined, going 17/21 for 127 yards and a touchdown, but the reports out of Pittsburgh are that they might be looking to move the veteran backup, which would pave the way for a two-horse competition between Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky.

After the game, Mike Tomlin was especially impressed with Pickett’s ability to get the Steelers down the field for a scoring drive as the first half was winding down.

“It’s probably who he is,” Tomlin said of Pickett’s ability to succeed under pressure via NFL.com. “I know he did it next door (at the University of Pittsburgh). He probably did it in high school and he probably did it in little league. Some things, people are born with.”

Regardless of who Mike Tomlin tabs as his starter for Week One, it’s only a matter of time before the Steelers turn their offense over to the young Kenny Pickett.
