Marcus Smart Comes to the Defense of Ime Udoka Amid Affair Scandal With Team Staff Member

NBA teams are doing media today to kick things off for the upcoming season, and everyone wanted to hear what the Celtics players had to say about the Boston Celtics decision to suspend head coach Ime Udoka for the entire 2022-23 season. Boston Celtics star Marcus Smart is already making some noise with comments he made about his coach. For those who have been living under a rock, Ime Udoka was suspended for having an improper intimate relationship with a team staff member. While the relationship was initially believed to be consensual, the woman accused Udoka of making unwanted comments towards her, which lead to the team inquiry.

Marcus Smart quickly defended Udoka, basically saying it’s not all that serious.

Definitely not a great look to downplay a situation that the franchise determined was serious enough to suspend their coach for an entire season.

The fact that the Boston Celtics players have remained mostly in the dark is a troubling sign.  I mean what aren’t they telling the players.

Smart is right about no one dying but clearly the Boston Celtics were trying to send a message that whatever exactly Udoka did is not acceptable behavior for a Head Coach.

Just imagine if he was the owner and not a coach, it would be interesting to see how different this whole situation would have been handled.
