The Houston Texans Reportedly Have Their Next Head Coach, And You Better Believe It’s A Weird Hire

The Houston Texans have reportedly made their decision on who will be their next head coach. The name may surprise many. It’s not Leslie Frasier, Eric Bieiemy or any of the other top candidates on the market. According to Adam Schefter, the Texans are set to hire Ravens passing game coordinator David Culley as their next coach.

If you’re like me, you’re thinking, “who is David Culley?”. Culley is the 65-year-old passing game coordinator for the Ravens. Prior to the Ravens, Culley worked as a quarterbacks coach for the Bills from 2017-2018. Culley has never been a coordinator in the NFL.

We’re kind of at the point with the Houston Texans where if they did anything normal it would be a surprise. Who knows? Maybe David Culley will be the guy who can reconcile with Deshaun Watson, but I highly doubt it. It really seems like Watson already has one foot out the door, which would mean that team would likely be headed for a rebuild.

If that were to be the case, hiring a 65-year-old man seems a little odd. The whole thing seems a little off, but that’s just the Texans organization staying true to form, I guess.

If I’m Deshaun Watson, I’m getting out of Houston ASAP.
