Bettor Makes Sportsbook’s Second-Largest Super Bowl Payout on Lions

If you’re going to bet, go big.

That’s what one bettor was thinking, and he put down a decent amount of coin on the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions have been seeing all kinds of action this preseason, we call it the Hard Knocks effect, and it’s been bringing  in tons of bets on the Lions,  which is definitely a new thing for the Sportsbooks.  The Lions have been miserable the last several years to put it nicely, and   the very thought of betting on them to win the Super Bowl would be absolutely crazy.  But here we are. Bettors are actually betting on the Detroit  Lions, not only to make the playoffs, and to win the NFC North,  but some are thinking they’re going to win the biggest game of the season, the Super Bowl.

One bettor laid down $2,000 on the Lions to Win  the Super Bowl, which isn’t that crazy,  but given the odds,  which are currently at 150-1, that’s quite a bit of  liability for the Sportsbook.

The Lions are coming off a 3-13-1 season, which marked the franchise’s fourth consecutive double-digit loss campaign. But an encouraging second half of 2021 has raised expectations among a hungry fan base. Couple that with all they hype their getting over their Hard Knock appearance, and you have a recipe for bettors flocking to the Lions.

Hard to imagine the Lions winning the Super Bowl, but hey, you never know.  And this is exactly why Las Vegas continues to hang bright lights and build tall buildings.
