Bettor Places Massive Wager On Mets For Game One Of Subway Series

Is this the year the Mets finally overtake the Yankees in terms of on-field success?

With the Subway series showing up at a perfect time, the Mets and Yankees both find themselves in first place in their respective divisions, and the series definitely carries some extra hype this year.

Of course, bettors are getting in on the fun.

Right before first pitch, it was revealed that a New York bettor put a whopping $40K on the Mets to beat the Yankees in Game One of the series.

The Mets will be rolling with Taijuan Walker on the bump, while the Yankees are set to play behind southpaw Jordan Montgomery.

This series certainly carries a bit more importance for the Mets, who now find themselves just two games ahead of the Braves in the NL East.

The Yankees are currently 12.5 games ahead of the second place Blue Jays in the AL East. But this series is about pride. And many baseball fans (myself included) are hoping we get the gift of a Subway World Series in October.

Is this week’s series a prelude of things to come? Time will tell.
