There are a number of ways one may consider as qualifying to start off on the right foot, and one ornament of near certainty in doing so is with a Degen Bet Of The Day! The NFL is right around the corner, but impatience is a virtue for some of us, so the next-best-football may have to do if scratching the gambling itch is necessary.
Regardless of when your other shoe actually gets you moving, you’ll have plenty of time to pay mind toward the Australian Football League’s early morning matchup for Tuesday, when the two-seeded Brisbane Lions (7-2) square off with the fifth-ranked Richmond Football Club (apparently in creative collaboration with the now-Washington Football Team).
It will be a showcase of premier offense against defense, as the second-highest scoring offense of Brisbane will try to best a Richmond defense allowing the third-fewest points all season.
When one may have an idea of what defense resembles by the basic appearance of preventative actions, it may be a bit of a challenge at first glance to know how the scoring works in the AFL (or an entire YouTube video recap’s worth of understanding, depending on the viewer).
Here’s a recap of their last matchup, a qualifier from September 2019, where Richmond won 18.4 (112) to 8.17 (65):
While Brisbane does hold the better season standing currently, Richmond Football Club has won their past two outings against the Lions by scores that resemble more of a syllabus outline than anything from sports as we typically recognize.
Midfielder Dustin Martin apparently has Brisbane’s number, scoring a total of eight goals combined in their August and September 2019 meetings, with six of them coming in the qualifier.
Bookmakers have this match looking extremely close, with the edge of Richmond’s previous victories against Brisbane holding some evident weight in the betting lines. The Lions are ever-so-slight favorites on the razor-thin -0.5 spread (-120), with the Football Club of Richmond (sounds more daunting by that delivery) as +0.5 dogs (-115).
One may presume this to be a trap, but I think I will side with the dog’s defensive edge in tandem with a recency bias of their past two outings’ outcomes.
Pick: Richmond Football Club +0.5 (-115)
