Calvin Ridley Responds To People Saying He Has A Gambling Problem

NFL receiver Calvin Ridley found himself in hot water on Monday afternoon.

After being the subject of heavy trade rumors all offseason, it was announced in a statement by commissioner Roger Goodell that Ridley was being suspended for the entirety of the 2022-23 season for gambling on NFL games during his break last season.

Immediately following the news, Calvin Ridley fired off a series of tweets to speak on his mindset with the suspension. In the messages, the star wideout admitted to betting, but said he didn’t even bet $2K, meaning he wasn’t hooked. He also said he wasn’t even watching NFL games while he was taking his break for mental health purposes.

Calvin Ridley would also say that the suspension only meant that he was going to have time to come back even more healthy and stronger than ever.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter said that in his bets, Ridley was placing wagers on his Falcons team in several parlays.

“NFL determined that Calvin Ridley placed multi-legged parlay bets involving 3, 5 and 8 games that included the Falcons to win, per source. Investigation determined there was no involvement from any team players, coach etc. placed via his mobile device out of state,” Schefter said in a tweet.

It’s unclear at this time if Calvin Ridley plans on appealing his suspension.
