Jerry Jones Guarantees Dallas Cowboys Playoff Berth: Here’s What the Betting Odds Suggest

Jerry Jones is liking his team’s chances this season.

It appears as if the Dallas Cowboys owner has playoff plans in place for his Dallas Cowboys this season. Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith was badly injured in practice this week, and he very well could be lost for the entire season. Jones spoke about the situation on ESPN’s “First take” Thursday and said that the team could get Smith back at the right time, playoff time.

“It’s a setback. …We’ll have him at the right time. We’ll have him in that San Francisco [playoff] game, or the equivalent of it that we had last year,” Jones said.

The Cowboys chances of making the playoffs are definitely much worse if Smith won’t suit up this season, but you can’t blame Jerry for thinking it won’t affect his team’s chances this season.

Last season the Dallas Cowboys went 12-5 last season and hosted the San Francisco 49ers in the wild card round of the NFL playoffs. The Cowboys lost the game to the 49ers, who then went on to beat the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round before losing to the Los Angeles Rams in the conference championship.

For this upcoming season, their win total over/under at BetMGM is set at 10.5 wins.

Dallas is currently -300 to make the playoffs, odds that imply the Cowboys make it 75% of the time.

Dallas is +500 to finish as the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.  An interesting stat: Dallas has not made the playoffs in consecutive seasons since 2006-2007.

Take that for what it’s worth.
