Upon my perusal of the sportsbook lobbies, finding bets worthy of wearing the honorary Degen Bet Of The Day badge (or should it be a hat?) is not particularly as easy as it may seem. “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” or so they say.

Yet when you throw the prefix of “Seniors” into any sporting title, you’re pretty much insta-qualified. Toss in Snooker, and you’ve got a hell of an early morning to look forward to.
Suddenly, we’re already looking ahead to Wednesday. Look at how the Degen Bet can make your week fly by as well! It’s an underrated, multi-pronged utility to get you by the work week (aka: a spork). Get your bankroll locked and loaded, because we’ve got the 2020 Seniors Snooker World Championship starting on Hump Day (WOOT WOOT)!
In this over-40s snooker spectacle, opening day provides four matchups, with three of them providing some doable odds-to-win on both sides of the table, and the fourth featuring a lopsided favorite of -5000 in reigning Seniors Champ Jimmy White (no thanks).

In the latest world seniors rankings posted from March, Jerusalem’s Aaron Canavan holds a slight rankings point advantage over his opening day opponent Leo Fernandez, with Canavan’s 129 to Fernandez’s 117. As added sake of his argument, Fernandez provides an interesting ceiling, holding the season’s high break score at 146.
It appears there may be more than just a high break score of the past season or qualifiers weighing into betting lines by oddsmakers, where Leo Fernandez finds himself a -195 favorite, to that of Aaron Canavan’s +150. And with Canavan’s snooker resume showcasing a 143 high break score, there isn’t much that divides the two players by that margin.
As a Seniors Snooker newcomer spectator, one may consider that, given the Seniors theme, it could potentially be a disparity in age between the two … but not the case. Fernandez is 44, Canavan aged 45.
Perhaps it’s that Canavan’s resume also highlights that he’s “never [been] a professional” in his history, whereas Fernandez is a former pro.
However, this isn’t Canavan’s first rodeo on this stage, with 2018’s title actually going to the man himself:
You may want to skip past the first three-and-a-half hours (I mean, unless you’ve got some time on your hands), but to sum things up: Aaron had his back against the wall in the final round, and took it all down!
Call it recency bias, but there’s something about carrying experience to the Fernandez welcoming committee on behalf of Canavan, and if I am being given a plus-money opportunity as well, you have my degenerate wagering interests all but wrapped up.
Pick: Aaron Canavan +150 ML
