Rafael Nadal Confirms He’s Going to Be First Time Father

Looks like Rafael Nadal is expecting a bundle of joy in the near future.

The tennis star’s wife, Mery Perelló, is pregnant with their first baby, he confirmed at a press conference Friday. Rumors began to swirl over the last few weeks that he and his wife were expecting their first child. Spanish Newspaper Hola confirmed that his wife Mery was 100% pregnant.

Nadal, who is notoriously private, spoke about becoming a father.

“If all goes well, I’m going to be a father,” Nadal said. “I don’t know what will change in my life because I don’t have experience, but I don’t think it will change my professional life.”

Nadal also confirmed he will be a father for the first time. "If all goes well, I'm going to be a father. I'm not used to talking about my personal life, prefer to keep a low-profile. I don't anticipate this meaning a change to my professional life."

The couple first sparked speculation that they were starting a family when his wife was spotted wearing  loose-fitting clothing to the  French Open.

And earlier this week, Perelló appeared to debut her baby bump on a yacht ride in Majorca.
