Former tennis star and now broadcaster, John McEnroe, has had enough of politicians getting in the way of Novak Djokovic being allowed to compete in events.
Even after winning Wimbledon on Sunday morning, it remains up in the air if he’ll be allowed to compete in the US Open at the end of the Summer due to his vaccination status.
Currently, Novak Djokovic would not be able to compete in America because he is unvaccinated. But John McEnroe thinks enough is enough with the COVID restrictions on athletes.
“These politicians are getting in the way too much,” McEnroe said. “They did it in Australia. Let’s let the guy come in and play in the U.S. I mean, c’mon, this is ridiculous!”
NEW: John McEnroe on Biden not allowing unvaccinated Djokovic into America to play in the US Open: "These politicians are getting in the way too much. They did it in Australia. Let's let the guy come in and play in the U.S. I mean, c'mon, this is ridiculous!"

Earlier in the year, Novak Djokovic was disallowed from competing in the Australian Open because he’s not vaccinated against COVID. And perhaps the same fate lies ahead of him for the US Open.
As it stands, the US Open field could be pretty weak if Djokovic isn’t allowed and Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer remain out due to injury.
At this point, I think most would agree that Novak Djokovic should be allowed to compete in the event, but time will tell…
