Pacquiao closed the betting window as the favorite, but came away with the loss. What’s even more surprising is that Ugas stepped in on just 11-days notice after Errol Spence Jr. suffered a detached retina. Ugas has a professional record of 27-4 and hasn’t lost since 2019 against Shawn Porter. This was no doubt his most impressive victory.

“In the future, you may not see Manny Pacquiao in the ring,” a disheartened Pacquiao said in the ring after the loss. “I don’t know. Let me rest first relax and make a decision if I’ll continue to fight or not.” Some fear that this may have been his last professional bout as he turns 43 later this year.

Pacquiao is a Political Senator in his country of the Philippines and has struggled be find enough time to train and be a politician. He added that he is getting old and that even if he trains hard, his body isn’t the same it once was.

He took this fight at 147-lbs, and clearly looked outmatched. Many analysts suggest a drop-down in weight if he ever plans a return to the ring. Others suggest that Pacquiao may look to continue on his political journey and potentially be the president of the Philippines.

In any case, there will always be fights that can be made and sold with Pacquiao’s name. As we have recently seen 44-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr. still rake in millions in exhibitions bouts.
