We Might Just Have NBA Basketball On Christmas Day After All

Adam Silver NBA

Christmas Day means many things. For me, it means sitting on my couch and watching the entire slate of NBA basketball. It looked iffy that we would have basketball on Christmas this year, but now we have a reason to be excited.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the NBA is targeting a start date on Dec 22. They would then be set for a 72-game season.

This proposed plan would allow the NBA a chance to get pretty close to its normal schedule. It would also allow a window for NBA players to participate in the 2021 Summer olympics, as the season would be concluded.

While Christmas basketball is great, I think this is more about the Olympics. We all want to see the stars play in the Summer Olympics, and I’m sure they relish the opportunity to represent their country.

ESPN first reported that basketball could resume on Christmas Day, but now a few days earlier is looking more likely.

The National Basketball Players Association still has to sign off on this deal, but it’s starting to look likely.

“It may be too quick, but it also makes too much sense,” one high-ranking team official told The Athletic.

2020 has been bad enough. Please give us Christmas basketball.
