Warriors GM Bob Myers Gives Telling Update On Klay Thompson’s Timetable To Return

Despite Stephen Curry’s heroics all season long, it was clear that the Golden State Warriors missed Klay Thompson. Aside from Steph, the Warriors lacked real scoring threats and clearly needed another star player if they wanted to make any waves this year.

Thompson has been sidelined all season after suffering a torn Achilles tendon, and the latest update isn’t the best news for Warriors fans. General manager Bob Myers isn’t sure that Klay can make a full recovery before the start of next season.

“I don’t know that it will be the start of the year,” Myers said on when Thompson could be back on the court to SF Gate. “We’ll see more as camp gets closer. When I say start of the year I mean game one, I don’t know if that’s realistic or not. That will be less than a year. I don’t know what state the season opens up but I think that will be 11 months. I don’t know that that’s realistic.”

It certainly sounds like Myers is bracing for the likelihood that Klay won’t be available for the beginning of next season.

Thompson, on the other hand, is champing at the bit to get back on the court. After the Warriors lost their play-in game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Thompson took to Instagram to share a message for all of his fans and teammates.

It will be great to have Klay Thompson bake in the NBA at some point next season … even if it can’t be on opening night.
