Warriors GM Bob Myers Curiously Compares Klay Thompson To Derrick Rose

Bob Myers is one of the most respected general managers in the NBA. He has built a lasting team in San Francisco, and might not be done yet. However, Klay Thompson’s injury might put a wrinkle in any plans of a deep run in 2020.

Bob Myers spoke candidly about Klay’s injury, and he even compared him to Pistons guard Derrick Rose. Rose famously tore his ACL after winning the MVP award as a Chicago Bull. He was never the same player after. Bob Myers wasn’t really talking about them from that standpoint, though.

“I’ve never met anybody who doesn’t like Klay,” Bob Myers says. “There’s two players in the NBA that everybody likes and respects: Klay Thompson and Derrick Rose. Those two guys are universally beloved. How your peers feel about you in life says more than anything else.”

This one hits home to me as a Chicago Bulls fan. It’s a shame we could never see Derrick Rose continue to grow into one of the best players in the league. Who knows? Maybe the Bulls have a championship by now.

I don’t expect Klay’s injury is going to affect him as much as D-Rose’s did. Derrick Rose was a completely different player. Derrick relies on his athleticism, Klay has the smooth jumper.

I’d expect Klay Thompson to come back strong in 2021.
