Vince Vaughn Explains How Peyton Manning Inspired Football Scene in ‘Wedding Crashers’

Social media had all the jokes after Peyton and Eli Manning had their Monday night Football broadcast interrupted by Eli's fire alarm

Vince Vaughn knows how to do Wedding Season!

Vince Vaughn was the last guest on the Week 7 edition of the Monday Night Football ManningCast. Following comedian Bill Burr and former President Barack Obama, Vince Vaughn had a lot to live up to, as Burr and Obama are not easy guests to follow.  Luckily Vince brought it, and had plenty of stories about football movie magic from Rudy, and also Wedding Crashers.

First he talked about filming at halftime of a Notre Dame game during his time filming the legendary sports movie Rudy.

Watch below:

Vince Vaughn played quarterback Jamie O’Hara in his first real movie role, but didn’t actually get to throw a pass when his character got in the game.

A year later Peyton Manning arrived on campus at Tennessee. By the time Wedding Crashers came out in 2005, Eli Manning was entering his second year in the NFL and Peyton was well into his Hall of Fame career and famous for what he shouted out at the line of scrimmage. This supposedly inspired Vince Vaughn’s performance in the football scene in Wedding Crashers.

Watch Vince Vaughn explain below:

A few minutes later Eli tried to replicated Vaughn’s character’s cadence on the broadcast.

This is what the Manningcast is all about. During a blowout Chicago Bears win over the New England Patriots what else is there to do other than listen to a bunch of funny guys talk about football stories. If only Peyton and Eli had asked him about Old School.

That could be reserved for Vince Vaughn’s next appearance.
