Vanessa Bryant Lawsuit With Mother Takes an Interesting Turn

Vanessa Bryant and her mother are not on great terms. Vanessa’s mother filed a lawsuit against her daughter following Kobe Bryant’s tragic passing. Vanessa Bryant’s Mom, Sofia Laine, alleged that she was still owed money for babysitting her grandchilderen, and she was promised she’d get paid.

According to Vanessa’s mom, she was also promised by Kobe Bryant she would be take care of for the rest of her life. Following Kobe’s passing, Vanessa reportedly kicked her out of the house she had been living in and refused to take care of her how Kobe had promised to do. Now it appears their court case has been settled.

Via TMZ:

“Vanessa Bryant has settled a lawsuit filed by her mother, TMZ Sports has learned.

Sofia Laine had claimed she worked as a nanny for Vanessa and Kobe for nearly 20 years and said she was owed $200,000 … computed at a rate of $96 an hour.

She also claimed Kobe promised to take care of her for the rest of her life. She says after Kobe died, Vanessa kicked her out of the home Kobe had allegedly bought for her.

Vanessa called the lawsuit “frivolous, disgraceful and unimaginably hurtful.” She went on … “My husband never promised my mother anything, and he would be so disappointed in her behavior and lack of empathy.”

Vanessa went on to say: “In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers,” adding, “As of ten years ago, our kids were full-time students and athletes and I didn’t have another child until 2016.”

The financial terms of the settlement were not revealed, but you have to assume Vanessa decided to pony up so she could put this behind her.

Crazy to think a Mother and daughter can be fighting over money, but it happens.
