Russell Wilson created a stir this offseason when he declared that he wanted to be more involved in the Seahawks’ decision-making process in the future. While Russ might not have the ear of Pete Carroll and the teams’ brass, his input seems to go along way with at least one other team in the NFL.

Before hiring Darrel Bevell as his OC, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer called Russell Wilson to ask if he was the right guy to work with a young quarterback.

“A lengthy conversation with Russell Wilson had a huge impact on Urban Meyer’s decision to hire Darrel Bevell as his OC after Wilson told Meyer about Bevell’s ability to get him ready to perform at a high level very quickly his rookie season,” NFL Network’s James Palmer said on Twitter.

Darrel Bevell was the offensive coordinator of the Seahawks from 2011-2017. Russell Wilson and Bevell enjoyed a whole lot of success together, including winning Super Bowl XLVIII against the Broncos in an absolute blowout.

Bevell’s run in Detroit wasn’t as successful, but the guy is a proven offensive mind nonetheless, and is a pretty good bet to work well with Trevor Lawrence and Urban Meyer in Jacksonville.

It seems like they’ll have Russell Wilson pulling for them.
