UFC’s Testing Protocols For Fight Island Now Include FIVE Separate Times For COVID Tests

As COVID is starting to flare up again, the UFC Fight Island testing is becoming more stringent, announcing it will test FIVE times.

As we recently learned, UFC Fight Island will start July 11 on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. And even though Dana White was not the biggest believer in COVID-19 to start, one could argue that the UFC has been the best league at containing virus spreead and keeping their athletes safe.

For the four consecutive weeks of Fight Island events, it seems like UFC’s testing will get even more strict. Here’s the full chart that outlines UFC’s Fight Island COVID testing protocols from ESPN’s Marc Raimondi:

You read that correctly, that is FIVE COVID-19 tests over the course of each UFC fighter’s Fight Island journey. Compare that to a comparable company in WWE, who’s only started regularly testing performers within the last week despite running shows all throughout quarantine. UFC is not playing games in a way that some of these operations have.

As the pandemic sets record highs months into our awareness of COVID-19, UFC will be lucky to get a fifth-round decision over the virus. But at least they’re in the fight. Now let’s work on making Fight Island look more like a level from Mortal Kombat.
